The Lion's Gate 2026: Sirius Rising – An AstroSonics Journey of Intention, Resonance & Sound

Astrology is vibration - vibration is sound.
Every year on 8 August, people around the world celebrate what has become known as the Lion's Gate—a time associated with personal transformation, higher awareness and setting heartfelt intentions for the future.
But what exactly is the Lion's Gate?
And is there an astrological moment we can genuinely work with?
This year, I wanted to approach it a little differently.
Rather than simply creating another Lion's Gate meditation, I wanted to honour both the ancient inspiration behind this tradition and the astrology unfolding in the present moment.
The Ancient Inspiration
The modern Lion's Gate is inspired by the ancient Egyptian observation of the heliacal rising of Sirius - the first visible appearance of the brilliant star Sirius in the dawn sky after a period of invisibility.
For the ancient Egyptians, Sirius heralded the flooding of the Nile, bringing life, renewal and the beginning of a new cycle.
Although the modern Lion's Gate falls on 8 August, and the original heliacal rising no longer occurs on this exact date or from every location on Earth, Sirius remains the symbolic heart of this annual celebration.
A Different Astrological Approach
For this year's AstroSonics journey, I've chosen not to cast a chart for sunrise or simply for 8:08 a.m.
Instead, I cast the chart for a unique symbolic moment...
4:32 a.m. AEST on 8 August 2026
At this exact time, Sirius rises on the Ascendant over eastern Australia.
Astrologically, the Ascendant represents emergence, beginnings and the way energy enters our lives.
Having Sirius positioned on the Ascendant creates a beautiful symbolic chart from which to explore this year's Lion's Gate through astrology and sound.
Rather than viewing this as "the one true Lion's Gate chart," I see it as an intentional way of honouring the origins of the tradition while creating a meaningful foundation for this year's AstroSonics experience.
The Astrology Behind This Year's Journey
The central focus of this chart is the conjunction of Sirius with the Ascendant, supported by several key planetary relationships.
These include:
- Sirius conjunct the Ascendant - Symbolising emergence, awakening and the beginning of a new chapter.
- Sirius square Saturn - Inviting us to transform inspiration into practical action, commitment and personal responsibility.
- Sirius semi-sextile the Moon and Uranus - Encouraging emotional openness alongside fresh perspectives and unexpected insights.
- Sirius semi-sextile the Sun and Jupiter - Supporting heart-centred confidence, authentic self-expression and gentle expansion.
Rather than predicting events, I like to think of these planetary relationships as a symbolic landscape - an invitation to reflect on where we are, what we're ready to release, and what we wish to consciously cultivate.
From Astrology to Sound
This is where AstroSonics becomes something different.
Rather than simply interpreting the astrology, each planetary relationship is translated into corresponding planetary tuning forks, creating a sound immersion inspired by the energetic symbolism of the chart itself.
The intention isn't to prove that sound changes the planets or that astrology causes events.
Instead, the planetary frequencies provide a reflective space - an opportunity to slow down, become present and consciously engage with the themes represented by the chart.
For me, astrology becomes the map.
Sound becomes the experience.
